Volunteer with Us!
The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia is a volunteer organization with just a small number of paid employees. The majority of volunteers help at the shelter taking care of the animals. Ideally, we need 5 or more volunteers on each dog shift and 2 or more volunteers on each cat shift.
Dog Kennel Shift Times:
AM Shift: Starts about 6:30 -7 AM
DAY Shift: Starts about 11:30 – Noon
PM Shift: Starts about 5 PM
Dogs Shifts are approximately 3-4 hours long. Duties include, but are not limited to, feeding and providing clean fresh water, cleaning kennels, sweeping, mopping, doing laundry, washing bowls and bringing dogs out to yards for 30 minute play times. Each shift is overseen by a designated lead
person who is responsible for providing guidance and possesses a key to access the building.
Cattery Shift Times:
AM Shift: Starts about 8:00 AM
PM Shift: Starts about 6:00 PM
Cattery Shifts are approximately 2 hours long. Duties include scooping litter boxes, sweeping and mopping floors, feeding and providing fresh water to the cats.
