The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia works in conjunction with Meals on Wheels which is a non-profit organization that is part of the National Meals on Wheels program for seniors.
The local Meals on Wheels program in Whitfield County delivers meals directly to the homes of seniors whose mobility is limited. Many of these seniors are fortunate enough to have animal companions. By providing the Meals on Wheels service to the pets of the seniors we help insure that these seniors do not have to share their meals with their pets, and that the pets are obtaining much-needed and correct nutrition.
We currently provide food for 63 dogs, 56 cats, and 4 birds.
We accept donations from the public and break these down into gallon freezer bags for distribution. They are then taken to the Meals on Wheels office in Whitfield County for distribution to the loving companions of our precious seniors.
